Woo hoo!! It’s Day 75 friends!! If we were working in years, it would be our golden/diamond anniversary 🙂 Let’s just wait for day 275 to do something real bling, bling, how does that sound? Today we’ll have to just go with this collared, muumuu-y, stretchy-ish puppy.
Day 75 - Before
Yikes, is probably what you’re thinking. This orangey base dress with yellow/blue/pink/green flowers had not only a super big collar (what’s crackin’ 70s?) but a super big cigarette hole!!
Now I didn’t see this as I was sorting through big piles of goodies last Sunday – I think I got a little caught up in wanting to make it to the Super Bowl festivities on time that this ciggy mark slipped past my tired and sunglassed eyes. But, alas, it was something that I would need to stitch up along with the length, the sleeves and the body of the dress.
Stitched up ciggy hole, that kinda looks like the mouth of a fish...you think?
I also wanted to deepen the V, so I grabbed my seam rippers and took a cue from Lil’ Jon and got low.
Day 75 - After
Well hello new long sleeved mini dress! You look so lovely combined with my vintage yellow button-down vest and navy belt! The color palette was rather bold, but for such a sunny LA day, it worked perfectly. Allowed me a little time to take a break or two from the office and go outside for some vitamin D. Thanks to my Leonard Cohen lovin’ colleague JT for snapping the photos.
Hurrah for sun & Day 75!!
It’s almost Friday, and nothing is better than a Friday on a holiday weekend… Let the party almost begin!! xx Marisa
Happy Super Bowl Sunday friends! Because of the abundance of food that was going to be consumed today – 7 layer dips, chicken sausages, margaritas, Tostitos Hint of Lime chips…you know what I’m talking ’bout Willis – I wanted something non-constricting without it being what I wear to yoga. Also I didn’t want to have any blue on me as I was rooting all the way for the Saints! (The Colts took my Jets out two weeks ago and I still haven’t forgiven Peyton or Mr. Garçon for the loss)
Day 71 - Before
Super cute lace top was my pick for today. Now I didn’t take any closeups, however the shirt had become a slightly muted yellowish/brown after years of being in somebody’s basement. It was murky lookin’ and kind of see through and I wasn’t digging it at all. I wasn’t sure if I should make it into a vest or a tank top, but after assessing it, I really liked the sleeves and the ruffled collar was pretty great as well, so I kept it intact. I opted to bring out the dyes and go to town on it in a lovely lavender shade.
Day 71 - After
Now just this subtle purple change with the addition of a black tank underneath and my black cap made the perfect football ensemble. This was taken post Saints victory, meaning post-margaritas, post-chips & dip, and post-chicken sausage, but you couldn’t tell as the shirt is sans a bottom button making it just like an elastic number but without the less-chic association of actually wearing elastic.
Also, there was one other thing that made this the perfect football ensemble – check it out…
Shot through the heart!
It’s my trusty little Bullets 4 Peace Fleur de Lis necklace, which made its’ first appearance this afternoon 🙂 This little gift came in handy today as the Saints’ logo was adorned around my neck, on a recycled bullet, blinged out in black rhinestones. Even though I wasn’t in New Orleans to get beaded, this worked like a charm…no pun intended. Best part is, is that I didn’t even have to flash my boobs to get it!! But let me tell you friends…Fat Tuesday’s piece is going to be awesome.
The rain was a-fallin’ again today, and instead of going with a dark and cozy piece (as I’m extremely comfortable doing), I opted to go with something with a pop of color. It was a Friday, the work week was coming to an end, the Super Bowl is around the corner – this all seemed happy and cheery to me, so yes, I wanted happy and cheery colors. Cue the fuchsia floral print…
Day 69 - Before
This is like wearing Hawaii on my body! Loves it, however the sizing is rather off. This may have even belonged to a gentleman at one point as well, which I’m not embarrassed to say. So, there needed to be a little bit of tweakage to get it camera-ready. Because I wanted to pair the top with some leggings and my rain boots, those slits on the side of the shirt had to be fixed. I’m not that stoked to show off my arse, so I stitched the slit together on each side to give it a tunic feel. I also took in the arms and torso to give it more shape as big, baggy sleeves are not that cute. I added a belt to break up the floral pattern and a hat to hide my frizzy, rain-soaked tresses.
Day 69 - After
Why now I’m all ready to go out into the rainy wilds of Los Angeles, with my new outfit, my raincoat, and my umbrella, ella, ella. As much as I like vegging under covers, watching guilty pleasure movies (Point Break or Bring It On are solid options) and ordering in Chinese on days like these, it was still a Friday and I couldn’t really get away with calling in “rain” to work. It’s alright…it’s supposed to rain tomorrow and tomorrow is Saturday. Total score!!

Let the weekend begin! All you East Coasters, watch out for that snow – be safe and have fun with your fireplaces 🙂 xx M
