Day 285. 80 days and $81 left to go.

I LOVE the bold and busy prints and bringing them from a “no way” state to a “sign me up” one!!

Day 284 - Before

Day 284 - Before

I was feeling just like Lucille Ball in this…

Lucille!!

Lucille!!

There were lots o’dots on the fabric itself and I really disliked this blend of dainty, Victorian (in the collar) that went along with the dots.  So, hello adios time, you’ve arrived!!

I grabbed my seam ripper and began to unstitch the piece at the collar.  In just a few minutes, one side was completely removed.  I continued and got rid of the entire thing.

I wasn’t loving this as a dress either.  There was just too much going on here so I got my scissors and trimmed right at where the “skirt area” (the little mini skirt that fell at my waist) was.

After going from dress to top I wanted to tweak one last thing.  Now these sleeves as they were, were a bit big.  I thought it would be fun to try this out…instead of cutting and reseaming, I pulled out my “Crafty MacGyver-ness” and made them shorter with a little trick.

I just grabbed a hair tie (a bigger, more elasticked one) and put it in the area between my elbow and hand…

Make sure the hair tie doesn’t cut off your circulation, first and foremost 🙂  I then literally started rolling the piece around until it looked like this…

The rubber band kept it in place which was great – quick and easy!!

My new top was good to go with the addition of a white tank underneath and the pairing of another polka-dotted piece.

A close up of my fave part of the piece – the mixed nature of the dots on the top along with the smaller ones on the fabu belt is what I really loved.

The top turned out super chic and I must say I was getting polka-dotted compliments all night!!

Sunny day!!

Day 82. 283 days and $279 left to go.

For my Thursday ensemble, I went with a piece that was super 60s housewife – I got called I Love Lucy at the office today after I changed up this puppy a bit.  Keep in mind friends, it’s still rather warm in these parts…

Day 82 - Before

Day 82 - Before

A white, sheer, nightgowny-robe piece that was ripped and slanted along the edges…that was the choice today.  A classy nod goes out there to that person who did a stellar job with the blades – bravo, really.  What I did enjoy about this piece the most was the amazing lace detail by the wrists and the ruffles by the collar.  To accentuate those lace accents, and forge away from the drab white color, I grabbed my box o’RIT dye, picked the lovely shade of Evening Blue as the color to change it to, threw it in a pot on my stove, and let the color sink in.  Right after the dying was done and it had time to dry, I grabbed my trusty scissors and evened out the poor trim job.  Steady hand wins the race…

Before it was ready to go, I pushed the sleeves up and actually just gathered and safety pinned them from the inside to keep them short and ruched looking instead of long and blech looking.  It was warm out and the piece was still rather sheer, so all I did was add an old vintage tank top with blue hibiscus and green stripes underneath and it was ready for the day!

Nothing screams office shot then a picture at the elevator, right?  The Evening Blue shade was a subtle enough difference to really bring the lace detailing out, especially by my shoulders.

Totally happy with my girly top for the day.  I’ll get being called Lucille Ball any day..may just have to dye the tresses instead next time!!
