Day 128. 237 days and $233 left to go.

I enjoyed my Easter ensemble so much yesterday that I wasn’t ready to give up the spring colors.  Had to stick with green, so I grabbed this slightly ridiculous frock below.

Day 128 - Before

I mean, I feel like a big, green cupcake with all the white ruffle business going on.  Kind of like these ridiculously amazing looking ones from my new fave UK spot that I’ve never been to but am beyond obsessed with, Crumbs & Doilies.

Now I don’t mind looking like these, but let’s be honest, the cupcakes looked better than this dress did.  I mean check it…

The sleeves were suffering from some serious damage (on both too, even though you can only see this one) and they needed to get fixed.  On top of the sleeves, the whole dress needed a tightening up as well.  I got out my sewing machine and took in the sleeves, the body and the skirt.  I even did my sewing in pink thread 🙂

Oh, and that length…I had to get rid of it.

There goes the length

Goodbye length

And after cutting off copious amounts of thick, green polyestery fabric, this is how it turned out.

Day 128 - After

Like I said earlier, since I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to my Easter dress, I used the excess fabric from the bottom of it as a sash today.  Matched perfectly!  Now, back to those cupcakes.  If only they could be shipped to Los Angeles…

Day 81. 284 days and $280 left to go.

I LOVED this color palette when I first came across it.  A blend of soft greens, yellows, pinks…reminiscent of a spring day, laying on the grass, reading a great book, snacking on treats (ie. apple slices or homemade hummus) from the Farmer’s Market.  I told you a few days ago…I gots the Spring Fever – that’s what happens when it’s 80 degrees outside, so I’m dressing like it’s May!

Day 81 - Before

Serious issues exist here friends!  I probably don’t need to point them out, but I’m gonna go ahead and do it anyway.  Length – I’m stepping on it and width – I’m swimming in it.  I had to figure those issues out, as this fabric was simply the color palette of my dreams.  There were two ties on each side of the waist that were there to pull to the back and tie into a bow which acts as an attached belt.  Unfortunately the dress was too big for those to work, yet I did still want to use them, so I took them out of their sewed spots…

Original tie - pre adjustment

(with some seam ripping action, I took the ties out on both sides…)

…hemmed both sides of the dress to a perfectly fitting state and reattached those ties after taking in a few inches.  (FYI – In the pic below, the seam to the way right is the original and the one to its’ left is the new one I created)

And all that was left was a little length fixing!  Shortened the puppy a smidge as I didn’t want it to sweep the floor, but didn’t want it a mini either.

Cutting the bottom!

The finale my friends…

Day 81 - After

BAM!!  Dress that totally satiated that Spring Fever, outside in the sun, would even do yard work craving.  However, when the sun went down, there was another craving I received. That one was for sugar…

Cupcakes!!

Cupcakes!!

So I baked some delish cupcakes (and by baked I mean bought some baawesome varieties at Crumbs Bakery) to curb my sugar fix and to celebrate my fab father’s birthday!  If I had time I would have baked the Chocolate Snowball (me and my dad’s fave), Peanut Butter Cup, and Half Baked cupcakes myself, but I just left it to my friends at Crumbs today to save me a little bit of time 🙂

Day 55. 310 days and $306 left to go.

So, even though the rains were still coming down, I made a game time decision to nix the leggings (they’ll be making an appearance again tomorrow friends as I’m LAX bound in the am) and go with a fun, frilly shirt that I literally almost made out with when I locked eyes.  It was that fah-bulous and was just a buck.  Checky here…

Day 55 - Before

The itsy-bitsy black polka dots on the white crêpe shirt were so delicious that I snagged the blouse without even testing the fit.  I’m a ruffle girl too, so those were the icing on this scrumptious cupcake.  The one issue was that the shirt was severely see through – even with a nude bra underneath (which is the best trick ever – never use white under white!!) you could still see through.  I considered using dye, but I loved the black and white combo, so I pulled my trusty little criss-cross slip top that I made in Day 22 and put it on underneath.  I opened a few of the buttons to really accentuate the ruffs and had my ensemble for the day…

My outfit was rain proof, but the hair…that’s a whole other sitch.  Happy weekend and stay dry my dears! xx M
